CBS School Savings

CBS Canterbury School savings is available to encourage young people to:
  • save regularly.
  • save regularly using their own funds.
  • save regularly using their own funds that have been earned through their own endeavours and good works within their family and home environment.
  • Set goals and then be able to observe how regular savings can build into amounts that achieve those goals.
  • Watch their savings grow using internet based account records.

Where CBS Canterbury school savings is in place at a school, children register by opening an account and then receive a pack containing deposit envelopes for weekly deposits. The envelopes are printed with the child’s account number and name on the back, and on the front is an area where they fill in their name, classroom number, savings amount and the date.

cbssavingsenvelopes3The pack is designed to sit on a shelf, bedside cabinet or bookcase in the child’s bedroom at home and should act as a reminder to children about banking regularly at school.

Banking is on a set day at the school so children bring along their savings in the envelope and drop it into the savings box in the school office first thing in the morning.

CBS Canterbury staff collect the envelopes and deposit the funds in the account that day.

For account details and features go to Kids’ Cash.

Children and parents are encouraged to check balances on the internet, but if a home computer is not available then they can record their savings amounts on a balance card option that is part of their initial pack, as well as receive an annual statement.
